Minding the Badge first responder mental health is coming to East Texas to host police, fire, EMS, and 911 dispatchers for a one day training that addresses mental health challenges most commonly faced among first responders, such as PTSD, substance abuse, depression, suicide, and career burnout.

HOW CAN YOUR DEPARTMENT BENEFIT?

Decades of research among combat veterans and first responders has led to innovative methods and tools that not only successfully treat mental health issues like PTSD, but are proven to create higher levels of resiliency against future issues. Resiliency training and pre-trauma conditioning are methods first responders can learn to use on their own and are fast becoming the new standard in first responder mental health training.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN AT A MINDING THE BADGE CONFERENCE?

Self-assessment & Self-therapy tools every first responder should know
Methods of building resiliency against post-traumatic challenges
Starting a Peer Support/CISM Team: step by step guide for any size department
Post-trauma growth & recovery: What to do now and what to do later
Best ways to talk to a peer about suicide, addiction, depression, etc.
Addressing marriage & family challenges common to first responders
Common nutritional deficits in first responders that make them susceptible to trauma
Reliable ways to qualify therapists/treatment centers for a mental health resource list

All of our trainers are former first responders or mental health professionals who work with first responders, some of whom speak from personal experience as survivors of PTSD and suicidal influences.

No matter the size of your department, every first responder encounters mental health challenges and post-traumatic obstacles effecting career and family. Every department that attends will have access to continued post-conference resources and free consultation by phone to assist with mental health education and training.

NOTE: Police attendees will be eligible for TCOLE credits (Crisis Training/Peer Support 3844)
