“DESTINATION MEMPHIS: TOTAL WELLNESS & RESILIENCY”
The First Responders Mental Health Alliance™ in partnership with Minding the Badge™ are raising funds to bring the best of our training courses to Memphis for a free training event offered to first responders, medical professionals, judicial professionals, and to any others who work in fields with high rates of mental health adversity, including stress, trauma, depression, addiction, and suicide.
We are reaching out for your help as a sponsor to make this possible.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS EVENT AND HOW YOU CAN HELP:
WHO ARE WE?
The First Responders Mental Health Alliance™ is a nationwide outreach that began as a provider of mental health training and services to first responders in 2017 but has expanded to now include other professionals who are exposed to high rates of mental health issues such as stress, trauma, depression, addiction, and suicide. Our training uses curriculum developed by Minding the Badge™ and comes with a credit eligible certificate of completion.
Minding the Badge™ is one of the leading developers of mental health curriculum for public safety and other professions with high rates of mental health risks. Their evidence based content is focused on creating resiliency that reduces or avoids crisis challenges that contribute to depression, addiction, and suicide. The innovative training can easily be applied to career culture, peer-to-peer, and self-regulation methods of developing resiliency.
WHAT IS TOTAL WELLNESS & RESILIENCY?
Total Wellness & Resiliency is a special hybrid training event that combines multiple topics of adversity encountered in the fields of first responders, medical, judicial, and other professions with high rates of mental health risk. These include but may not be limited to:
Mental Resiliency
Through the innovative research uncovered in Neuroplasticity, we cover the basics of what is going on in the brain during stress or trauma, its aftermath of interference, and how we can turn the tables in the battle of our minds to gain leverage and control.
Physical Resiliency
We examine small adjustments that make big changes to improving physical resilience, as well as common nutritional deficiencies that directly effect mental health and how to easily correct them with little impact on budget.
Spiritual Resiliency
The best research on mental health directly links its quality to matters of spirituality. No matter one's religious beliefs, we each face spiritual questions related to the battles we face in our minds and in our lives. We cover key concepts to make this journey a healthier one by asking better questions related to grief, shame, anger, and depression in relation to a higher power.
Marital Resiliency
A direct connection between mental health and relationship satisfaction is confirmed in an abundance of credible research studies, in as much as the two are cross supporting—meaning that the better your marriage, the better your mental health, and the better your mental health, the better your marriage.
Emotional Resiliency
Apart from mental resilience, we examine some specific emotional topics that are related, including emotional intelligence and anger resolution (a preemptive version of anger management). If you ever find yourself acting out of emotion, rather than wisdom, or work in an environment where anger is a common temptation, this section will provide the resiliency you need to make improvements and avoid future consequences.
Suicide Resiliency
Beyond mere suicide awareness, this important training covers methods we can practice in the workplace, in peer-to-peer encounters, or independently with ourselves that are proven to reduce the components that instigate suicide ideology and suicide attempts. It is based upon the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide, which is the most empirically tested study ever done on why people attempt suicide.
WHEN AND WHERE ARE YOU PLANNING THIS EVENT?
We are planning the first of what we hope to be multiple training events, beginning in June, 2025. The location has yet to be determined but will take place in Memphis, Tennessee, and be free to attend apart from a small $10 registration fee to ensure an accurate estimated attendance. The training event will be approximately four hours and include a credit eligible certificate of completion for each attendee.
