WHO WE ARE

THE FIRST RESPONDERS MENTAL HEALTH ALLIANCE

The First Responders Mental Health Alliance™ is a collaboration of first responders and mental health professionals who seek to improve access to effective mental health assistance for first responders. We achieve this goal by way of the following:

Improving the mental health provisions of Employee Assistance Programs by encouraging the use of therapists with specific training and experience related to the unique issues of first responders.

Offering credit eligible training to first responders and those helping them, with specific focus on avoiding or lessening the impact of mental health issues through resiliency training.

Reducing the influence of suicide ideology in first responder culture through suicide outreach training.

Strengthening the marriage and family bond of first responders via seminars and retreats.

Assisting in the development or improvement of peer support programs.

Educating administration leadership on realistic improvements and provisions for healthier minds.

Teaching first responders self-check skills that can be used independently outside the therapist's office.

Our preferred method of training is Minding the Badge,™  which is developed from decades of evidence based research and real world success stories, and focuses less on raising awareness of the problems and more on addressing authentic solutions. The courses have received stellar reviews in attendee evaluations because they not only work, but they are easy to learn, easy to apply, and improve over the course of a career.

We invite you to learn more about our programs, including Minding the Badge™, peer support assistance, and our 2021 training courses, including Operation COVRT.
